I came because I needed to pick up a friend at the airport at midnight. So a 3-hour drive, with a couple stops along the way, ending up with a couple of beers and dinner.

So I popped out of there and ended up in Old San Juan and now having a beer at El Batey - the oldest bar in SJ. The bartender I've met before but only once every a few months. He recognized me. We chatted with no one else in the bar. My perfect night out.

Dinner will be Mexican food just up the street after this.

A fine adventure Mr. Frodo.

Another hella rain today. After it passed I headed for San Juan.

Got here just fine. Decided to try without using map. Got perfectly wonderfully lost in the greater Santurce area. Ended up in a Section 8 barrio. Wound down every little street I could find. Each narrower than the last.

Trying to drive by dead reckoning after the sun had gone down. It was fun but I did end up right where I wanted to be eventually - at the food trucks park - but they were all closed. 1/2

Just running between the raindrops ☔
Literally. It's been raining so much. If I didn't get wet I wouldn't get anything done. Last outburst this afternoon I grabbed the mop and mopped down my truck which was covered with cat prints, pigeon poop, and dirt, while it poured.

I've got a hoist setup in the corner that can lift from the sidewalk. :WilLongAndProsper: Need to build a lift box for the cement sacks and tile to come. Or maybe just use a net bag, or a "super sack" they have for gravel/sand. I've got it rigged with 1/8th in steel cable right now - I don't think it's best for humans who want to :WilLongAndProsper:

@TwiHusband
😆 Okay then, how about cowboys and space girls - Firefly,
Or proto-molecule portal - The Expanse. Maybe that's the one you're using here 😉

@Ironworker229
I have a mini fridge, portable propane bbq grill, & gas burner, for the outdoor kitchen. Still to come; sink, and this U shaped butcher block top I just acquired from a friend may come in useful...looks like a bar to me.🍻

@Ironworker229
Wood rots steel rusts. I'll send you the plans - come on down I'll give you a vacation and we can build a set of metal stairs.⛱️

@Ironworker229
Love a new endeavor!

If it's worth doing, it's worth doing 3 times.

1st, R&D, test build,
scrap material
2nd, looks good, from here.
3rd, there ya go!

@Ironworker229

I'm going to put in a wood staircase with a wider landing. Can't get anyone to build me a metal one - price and timing. I own a hammer, not a welder, so...

@Ironworker229
Access is interesting, but it will be sweet finished with tile. 90°F in the shade under the fan ain't bad. There's usually breezes too.

@Ironworker229
Sanded 16x16 rock cobble style. No slips! Similar to this on the ground level entry terazza.

@carmen that's me in 1965.
Only it was nukes, not bullets, we were sheltering from.

6"of concrete. It was never sealed or finished to my knowledge. And this is the second power wash. It's very much a rough roof. But it's lovely up there. So knocking the tops off the high spots. And pouring leveler will give me a nice surface to work on. And I think it's a project I can do in bite sizes of about 6 ft by 7 ft or 40 square feet.

If I'm not mistaken, it was one of their first major projects, their reason for being.

True, they couldn't pass gun control fast enough after they saw a bunch of legally armed Black Panthers standing on the courthouse steps.

They likely also served breakfast and lunch that day to children in the neighborhood.
