@CJShaneArtBooks I agree with the concept that gun owners should have to carry liability insurance, much as vehicle owners do. It just makes sense. One counter argument is going to be that the requirement would be regressive and prevent the less wealthy from being able to afford to protect themselves in their own homes. It's going to be a tough sell. @corlin

Good point.
All insurance is a regressive tax.
Yet protecting your own home or apt. Is coved in most states by the castle doctrine. And so no liability insurance is required.
There are many ways to regulate firearms, that are somewhat less regressive. But not many. Remember that the day after the Black Panthers showed up at the Oakland courthouse carrying arms, the NRA lobbied hard for laws against open carry.
@corlin I wasn't aware at the time, but I've read about then Gov. Reagan signing gun control measures as a response to the Black Panther activities. It all came together fairly quickly, if I recall correctly. You could almost infer that the powers that be at the time were highly motivated. Funny, that. 🙄

True, they couldn't pass gun control fast enough after they saw a bunch of legally armed Black Panthers standing on the courthouse steps.
They likely also served breakfast and lunch that day to children in the neighborhood.

If I'm not mistaken, it was one of their first major projects, their reason for being.
