Question for the constitutional lawyers out there: Can Tre45on request no jury in his trial before Judge Cannon?
@FinnegansWhacked I'm not a constitutional lawyer but I don't believe so. Nobody has suggested that as an option in the news coverage and there have been several constitutional lawyers weighing in.
I believe so, but any shenanigans will only ruin Cannon's reputation further, and be dealt with at the appeals level in the same way as the LAST shenanigans were.
You think she's unaware that not only the entire country, but every other Federal judge on the bench is keep a real close eye on her?
They can vote to lose her her job, you know. SHE knows it. If they have to reverse her enough times, they'll do it, too.
That said, Trump's lawyers would commit seppuku if he demanded no jury.

She's a FEDERAL JUDGE, for whom Trump can do no real favors and to whom he can do no actual harm.
The rest of the Federal judges can, and will, take her nice, lifetime job away from her if she keeps making them look bad, though.

No, it's a RANDOMLY ASSIGNED JUDGE out of the four or five in the Federal District in which the DoJ decided to file the indictment.
I'm going to continue to believe that Jack Smith's got a much clearer idea what he's doing than any of US do.

What’s worse is Trump is having difficulty finding lawyers of the caliber to work on this case. He needs people who have defended espionage cases — funny how no one wants to work with the client from hell.

TL;DR Cannon COULD throw it but she would be in a shit ton of trouble. Fucking around with a potential espionage trial is NOT a good way of keeping your job.
What @mcfate said was spot on: Trump has no real power. He cannot help OR harm her. He is impotent.
It is far easier for her to rule correctly than to rule corruptly. She has already one strike against her (well, multiple TBH).
