The dog and the goat aren't suffering anymore, but her kids ... this sounds like a pattern of child abuse, killing a pet who doesn't behave to expectations. If I were one of her kids, I would be terrified to step out of line.

The look on the rat's face tho --- "Damn, I should have chosen maze-running duty after all."

It was a total lemon -- when the clutch went bad, my dad blamed my mom for riding it, but the repairman discovered it had been installed wrong at the factory. And when the gear shift fell off the steering column, the repairman asked if we'd been in a head on collision, because it was damaged as if we were. (We always had to grip the wheel tightly to go straight.) And yes, my dad had custom ordered it instead of picking it off the lot, to get the minimal cost features.

Hope it's an automatic transmission, at least!

I had to learn in a standard transmission 1968 Biscayne (the budget version of the Impala) with "three on the tree" instead of "four on the floor."

The problem is that once you open that can of worms, the rural states will use their current outsized power to make the constitution even worse. We can't even get the Equal Rights Amendment passed.

Hey Coso buddies!

My Lawyer Buddy is trying to raise awareness on an issue thats going on with due process here in Virginia, so I'm posting this link to her thread.

They're refusing to send criminal histories in a realistic manner, and thus hamstringing the ability of the defense to defend.

I was recalling the DSM-III being out when I took psychology in college in the 70s, but apparently my professors were using a draft pre-publication copy. There was a LOT of interest in that revision.

In some cases there are charitable foundations raising money to get kids in dangerous situations into US universities, too. A guy I know started a foundation to get kids out of Serbia during the war.

@Armchaircouch @Render
It's tuition. Foreign students paying full tuition subsidize financial aid for Americans, who typically don't pay the full sticker price.

Ivy League schools are particularly likely to be able to offer 100% of FAFSA-determined need for financial aid coverage to applicants who get accepted, though some will be loans, not grants.

Schools compete hard to get those rich children of kleptocrats in developing nations.

It makes him feel better about the size of his to refer to it with a diminutive pet name.
