I’ve done it, and a lot of people are very nice. I had the sense it made a lot of difference with the Obama campaign. Black voters didn’t tend to believe he could win, and when voting meant standing in long lines, people needed to feel their vote mattered. Seeing massive numbers of white volunteers knocking on doors for a Black candidate brought people out on their porches to marvel at it.
Not so much for Hillary, though number of volunteers were even larger.
