I remember the first movie codes were GMRX General, Mature, Restricted, Self eXplanatory.
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid was rated R. We were 14 and made it in somehow. I think there was a brief exposure of Katherine Ross' breasts and maybe the fact she was in love with both of them, sort of, that got the R rating.
