@Slines @CinnamonGirlE @gemswinc @Deephil11 @jackdetate @k_ratoncita I teach .

A zero sum game has exactly two players with exactly two outcomes: win or lose. Think chess, checkers, tic tac toe, paper rock scissors, and flipping a coin.

But it's a trap to think of life this way. We succeed in life when we cooperate. Some competition is healthy but too much is destructive.

@danielbsmith @Slines @gemswinc @Deephil11 @jackdetate @k_ratoncita
We are all leaving this world. It's a given. We have free will and choice on how to treat others and ourself. Indeed, it is the only thing we can control. Ourselves. And when you consider how difficult that is, you realize trying to control anyone is folly.

@gemswinc @danielbsmith @Slines @Deephil11 @jackdetate @k_ratoncita
Most of us would do well to just work on ourselves. I know for me that's true.

@CinnamonGirlE @Slines @gemswinc @Deephil11 @jackdetate @k_ratoncita I agree with you but continue that thought:

If we can't control ourselves then who can? My answer to that question is God. If we have an internal motivation to be better than we are, where did that come from? Again, my answer is God.

You have basically made the Christian argument that humans are in need of a Savior. Do not neglect these important questions in your life.

@Slines @CinnamonGirlE @gemswinc @Deephil11 @jackdetate @k_ratoncita I know it's a polarizing topic right now but the ten commandments are arguably the best foundation for a stable society that we have.

Here's the standard Protestant list. The Catholic one is slightly different because translating from an ancient language can be difficult.

@danielbsmith @Slines @gemswinc @Deephil11 @jackdetate @k_ratoncita
I have no issues with the Ten Commandments. I don't however want them displayed in schools. Nor do I want a theocracy. And I hate them being so hypocritical as they demand we all do it while they do whatever they want.

@CinnamonGirlE @Slines @gemswinc @Deephil11 @jackdetate @k_ratoncita I support the separation of church and state and do not want to live in a theocracy either. I will be voting blue this November.

And for the record, the people trying to turn our nation into a theocracy are not doing it because they love God but because they love power. They are abusing Christianity to further their political ends. They must be soundly defeated at the ballot box in November.

@danielbsmith @Slines @gemswinc @Deephil11 @jackdetate @k_ratoncita
We are in complete agreement. Even when I attended church every week, I did not want that. My leaving the church has everything to do with the actions of the evangelicals and their support of Trump and their hatred.
They are not Christians; at least not what I was taught to believe.

@CinnamonGirlE @Slines @gemswinc @Deephil11 @jackdetate @k_ratoncita Then I pray you find your way back to a church that teaches good theology. They're still out there. πŸ™

@k_ratoncita @CinnamonGirlE @Slines @gemswinc @Deephil11 @jackdetate It looks like you're in Canada. I can't help you there. Seek one and you will find one though.

@k_ratoncita @CinnamonGirlE @Slines @gemswinc @Deephil11 @jackdetate In person is better IMO but perhaps an online church would be a better option for you. I would recommend First Baptist of Atlanta, Georgia if Charles Stanley was still alive. I'm not certain how it is now but he left it in a theologically strong position. Maybe start there.

@k_ratoncita @CinnamonGirlE @Slines @gemswinc @Deephil11 @jackdetate Three things you should know: (1) Southern Baptist is historically the largest protestant denomination in the US because they preach a good solid theology. (2) Southern Baptist churches are all independent. The national leadership has become politicized and filled with MAGA-types but they don't dictate what happens at the local level. It's disgusting to most of us. (3) They've always been this way. Remember boycotting Disney?

@k_ratoncita @CinnamonGirlE @Slines @gemswinc @Deephil11 @jackdetate And I suppose there's a fourth: (4) Southern Baptist has no connection with the Anabaptists. That group is associated with some very strange beliefs and practices involving snakes as I recall. The only similarity is the name.

@k_ratoncita @CinnamonGirlE @Slines @gemswinc @Deephil11 @jackdetate But you do you. I think Christianity is the best route to find God but as long as you find Him it's good.

One of the best Christians I know was born in Canada. He found God by reading through the holy books of the world and contemplating the universe. He had no contact with any christians until 6th grade. He reasoned that the universe was designed, that a loving God existed, and must have communicated with us all on his own.

@danielbsmith @k_ratoncita @CinnamonGirlE @gemswinc @Deephil11 @jackdetate I believe his son has a ministry near me. Eatonton/ Greensboro Ga. I’ve steered way away from churches in my old age. 2 many questions/many doubts

@CinnamonGirlE

Indeed it does. You are loved Cinn πŸ’›πŸŽƒπŸ§‘

@LnzyHou

Thank goodness for you guys/y'all and a sane place in my very, very red culty world.
β™₯️β™₯️β™₯️

@CinnamonGirlE

NJ is a blue state. Very different vibe here. Little or no hysteria. My fire dept polling place is walkable from my apt.

Wearing my Kamala tees without fear.

Breathing easier.

@LnzyHou
Lucky lucky you. Maybe someday I will live in a free place. Or maybe death will be that escape. I hope they aren't on the other side with me. I guess that would be called hell, right?

@CinnamonGirlE

It would for me.

Still pulling for Josh Stein to win NC Governorship.
