Long gone are the days when wearing Keds all day was comfortable.
I have reached the age where I need to be fitted for sneakers. One of my arches seems to be collapsing a bit and walking has become excruciating on the outer edge of my foot and my hips.
Who knew?
My appointment is tomorrow morning. I see multiple dollar signs in the future..
@janallmac Thank you! My hips already have arthritis and bone spurs and am so looking forward to comfie sneakers.
@janallmac @ChippySuave Being a nurse and on my feet for 12 hour shifts, I agree.
Good luck! But the relief from pain should make it worth it.
If it doesn't, let us know and we'll form an Old Lady Gang and go kick some people in the nertz.
@BrazenlyLiberal Thank you for the laugh and support! 🤣
@ChippySuave I feel this. My right foot started deforming a bit when I was in my early 30s. I said, not today bunions! And donated all of my shoes. Thankfully these days there are way better options for actually cute supportive shoes in addition to quality sneakers.
@ChippySuave
I think you will get relief. Some of these specialty stores can find the exact shoe for you- but yes, it WILL be expensive.
My Ortho doc treated me for plantar fasciitis for over a year. Including the most painful shot in the sole of my feet which worked for 24 hrs.
During that year Doc urged me to buy shoes by Alegria which I refused because they look like “old lady” shoes. I finally broke down and bought the shoes. No more pain, fasciitis or discomfort. Now it’s all I have in my closet.
Expensive but worth every penny.
@LnzyHou I'm 54 (old, but not old) and I just looked up the brand. I think the Mary Jane shows are adorable! I just may have to splurge. Thanks for the suggestion!
You will never regret it. Watch for them on sale too. Bought a pair on Amazon sale that are great for evenings. The sandals are wonderful too. My friend wears the MJs—6 different styles.
I WANT those! Too damn cute.
You may need a little period of adjustment. Alternating with non-Alegria shoes messed me up.
@ChippySuave @LnzyHou Alegria is the best for teacher shoes! A nurse told me about them my 1st year.
Alegria shoe line is getting cuter and cuter every year. That’s all I wear.
@ChippySuave
Oh, but this can be life altering! In a good way! It's not cheap, but let me tell you, good, supportive sneakers are da bomb.
Yeah. I'm old. But I hope your comfortable shoes make you very happy.
