MANY times π
@BrazenlyLiberal Yup
I liked that satisfying "clack" sound the little levers made.
Nope, but certainly voted in a booth with curtains. Remember when some dude (in the late 60s or early 70s) lit up a joint inside a voting booth because the sanctity of voting ensured the cops couldnβt intrude to arrest him?
At the time it was an incredible & daring act of defiance.
I was so excited the first time! Tbh, I still get feel excitement on election days
Oh yes! I look forward to it. I get semi- dressed up. Then when I get there, I get sentimental watching all the people administer the polling & the people coming to vote β¦& I cry. Like, EVERY time.
I wish it was a national holiday with welcomers & greeters, hotdog stands, sidewalk bands, kid parades, lapel pins, crazy hats, upbeat patriotic music. Everything!

Imma think about you next time I go vote. π
Sure did!
Me, too. Seemed like more of an event than poking a screen.
Yes! It really was an event! Where I used to vote on Long Island, we were actually still filling in the circles and scanning the paper. I am interested to see how voting is handled here in upstate NY. Your voting system is computerized? Damn! NY needs to catch up! π
I'm not at all sure the progess is a good thing. Don't get me wrong - I trust the machines and think they make the whole process easier & more accurate. But it seems ... I don't know ... colder.
Oh, you nailed it! They really took the human element out of the process. Voting now feels so detached and sterilized. I agree with you. Progress has helped to make Voting easier and more accurate. The trade off.
Loved pulling the levers! Such a feeling of empowerment! Can hardly wait to vote again. May sign up to be a poll worker.
Yes! Exactly!
@BrazenlyLiberal one of each, I think.
