@KodoAndSangha I was thinking of that song playing as the sleeping congresspeople fall out of their chairs. Didn’t expect to see an 82-year-old performing it. Need that kind of energy from some of our lawmakers. 😂

@Minholkin Heya Min! You too. 👋 😁
Saturday #Scarefest #WatchParty is back, baby!
This Saturday night, May 13th, we're celebrating Mother's Day by streaming two films about moms in peril. First, at 8:00 PM US CST will be Hideo Nakata's (RINGU) DARK WATER (2002), followed by, around 10:00 PM US CST, Bong Joon Ho's (PARASITE) 2009 film, MOTHER.
@Myana …and yeah, the zombie films feel dated now, for a few reasons, but mostly because the aspects that were innovative when Night otLD and Dawn otD were released have been so thoroughly absorbed and regurgitated by pop culture that they just feel too familiar and well-worn by now. I will always love Romero for being a voice in the wilderness way back when, so maybe I’m willing to overlook some flaws in his films due to that.
@Myana I agree with some of what you’re saying, and objectively you’re right. Romero’s world(s) is/are inhabited by terrible people. There are a few characters that really get to me, (Ben in NotLD, Liz Lowry’s character in The Crazies) but the main reason, I think, why a lot of people like Dawn otD so well, yet react unfavorably toward Day otD is because of what you’ve pointed out—the characters we spend most of our time with are a lot more likeable in Dawn.
@Myana Glad you're well and having a lovely spring outside!
That comment about Romero is interesting! No judgement... I love Romero, but please do elaborate!
@Myana Hey you, how's it going? 👋
@MLClark Thanks. 👍 I'll try to check in more regularly. We shall seeEeee.... 😆
Fingers crossed you can independently republish and sell your "Grand Inquisitor" nested sub-section for some of the folks who think the novel is "far too wordy." 😉 😂
@MLClark Nah, honestly I'm *really* looking forward to reading it. "Bros. K. in space" was all I needed to be convinced (been a favorite of mine since I first read it as a teen). I have also been enjoying your Substack. Keep it up. I'm legitimately a big fan of your work.
Things are going ok, thanks! I haven't had much time for anything in about a year, (I thought I had "no time" prior to that, then realized what "no time" really is!) but I'm looking forward to that changing... soon! 👍
Think you've seen the worst album cover imaginable? Show more
@_Psyber At least I can start to force myself to stop stopping so much. 🤪😂
@_Psyber Little one starts all-day school in the fall. Then it’s really on! 😆
@_Psyber Cool! I’m glad that’s done. Moving suckssss. I did it almost a year ago now and it’s still not as though everything is settled (some of why I’ve been so absent).
I don’t have anything to sell.
I don’t know anything to tell.
