Was just chatting with a couple of guys from New Caledonia up on the smoking deck. It seems there's some pretty shocking stuff happening over there, towns villages being set alight there, roadblocks having to be set up to police who comes in and out to weed out violent troublemakers etc..

I mean maybe it's been in the news more while I've been away, but it was all news to me, hadn't seen anything about it on any mainstream news channel.

Is there a shipping equivalent of pink slips? Like, you stop at a bouy and rev your engines and sound your ship's horn or something? Need some industry insider input here 🙂

Funny thing, I'm on a cruise ship and they have this sort of big party event tonight, which I skipped 'cos I'm not really into the clubby type of party stuff.

Did my own thing, went to see a live band in a different area, am currently very drunk, hung out with some amazing, lovely people there, just went out on the top deck for a smoke (where the supposed party people were) and found they've all finished and gone to bed.

WTF.

They don't make partiers like they used to in my day 😉

People at work used to joke about the stuff I carried around in my work bag. Several different multitools, camping cutlery, twine, gaffer tape, first aid kit...

Heading off on vacation tomorrow. It's a cruise and I just found out the other day that we'll be passing through(or at least near) the Bay of Biscay, which is apparently one of the best places in the world for whale watching.

Really looking forward to that, got my camera and battery all charged and packed 😊
