I am really disappointed to see the Firehose turning into the Outrage Machine.

Agreed, and the columns have helped, as I just keep the hose off the left of the screen and still see quite a bit thanks to the addition of columns of hashtags.

Yep that's what I've started doing as well.
I am the first one to tell people "use the tools" so I should probably take my own advice.
Just noticing a culture shift. That's to be expected, I guess.
@voltronic I’m not opposed to a community norm that if you just post angry memes with zero other engagement, you are subject to be shown the door. But that’s just me.

@voltronic I think the venting is fine - only when there's targeting it irks me.
@voltronic Lots of new folks and this place is subtly different but much the same as the bird site, so new people bring their habits with them because it looks the same at a glance.
If we remind them why CoSo is different and we don’t engage with the shouty posts, they’ll figure out how to change. Or they won’t, and they’ll leave. But it’s going to take time. Months. Years maybe.
@voltronic I’m trying to boost and pepper it with good stuff. I think it annoyed some people that were pushing kindness but really, the culture is important, too. It’s what makes us different. I just keep updating my lists so I can keep track of you all.
