@sentientdessert
I don't know of any specific guide to point you to.
All I do is take my important stuff and burn it to disc a couple times each year.
@voltronic Ok. Thank you. I've done backups occasionally, but it's a complete drive clone.
@sentientdessert
Those are good as well. I do periodic disk images with Macrium Reflect.
It's equally as important, if not more so, to back up your data in a way that can be accessed independently of your installed operating system.
@voltronic my main rig has a constant mirror on a separate HDD. My pictures auto back up to the cloud. I'm considering making an off-site backup too on a big HDD as a worst case scenario
@rych
That's all solid, but I encourage everyone to run optical disc backups as well. Nothing else is as stable long-term, as long as you use high quality HTL discs.
@voltronic oh yeah I agree, Its just somewhere to store them for me. Out of interest do you store your disks at home or off-site?
@rych
I keep them at home in a fire box. I *should* keep off-site copies, but do not.
@voltronic there's only soich anyone can do, you do way more than most. I need to work out a can't lose, would be annoying if I lost but could cope and a "meh" list of files to at least prioritise backups
@voltronic Is there a guide one could look at to learn about backing up? Or one you might suggest?
