I've been teaching my family how to practice mindfulness in daily life.

I will post some interesting &wonderful changes this practice has done for me/family/life.

Feel free to post any goodness that lifts you up emotionally.

Fact: The more time in your day you spend in higher levels of emotion (vs. Low/bad emo) the better you will feel.

That's the easy part ^^ but a quick, uplifting win along the journey

^^^ I could easily be impartial. I've done it before. I had to convict a woman I had great compassion about here situation. I also believe that the law she broke was a badly thought out law (this was welfare fraud around food stamps.)

There was plenty of reasonable doubt up until she testified. Dammit. It was clear she met the criteria in her own words.

It was sad. But I had to vote guilty.

I saw this anti abortion guy on Twitter insisting that an embryo is an un-fertilized egg.

Then he was shown a pic of an 1.5cm embryo and he call it a fetus.

Got my taxes done. I didn't make nearly as much last year because I was out for my back issues.

On the bright side this is the first time since trumps faux tax cuts that I get small refund instead of paying 1 or 2 thousand like I had been.

Husband is working with our broker, making the proper changes and also taking a serious ecom type course and consulting.

It's great. No time pressures, we can cruise along at our own pace.

We were talking abt the OJ trial &how obsessed the country was over the chase/trial

We lol'd when I said, "that was my first intro into lawyer tricks"

Then I casually said,

"well unfortunately the country is going to see a whole new set of trials that are going painful, for everyone. It's tragic, but we'll get through this"

She nodded and agreed. I said nothing further.

We've talked about these problems before. Im a boomer with gen z kids. I see the problem. Mom agrees too. I gave her context of predatory practices around student loans &she sees now.

^^^ TODAY I talked to her about citizens united decision and how bad it has been. How it's enabled dark money come in to politics from charities in a way that's untraceable.

She was flabbergasted amd totally against it.

I told her I wanted this citizens united overturned MORE than Dobbs/roe (technically ot because of CU that we lost roe.)

None of this was confrontational. I didn't blame parties just lamented the damage this money has done

We rarely talk politics.

She's 89 &an OG republican. It was part of her identity she really enjoyed. My dad ran a few city campaigns and they had fun doing it.

Fast forward. She knows something is terribly wrong in politics &society,. She complains of kooks, uneducated ppl (she was a teacher)

BEFORE I started #mindfulness we had 2 heated conversations where I blurted out trump has ruined this country and society.

This is a possibly damn useful. They had a device approved for insomnia and just last week the fda approved one of the devices for general anxiety disorder. Other types are in the works
