History lesson:
Before cars, when the horse was king, thise who could afford to, would carry a sword.
Being that most folk would hse their right hand for fighting off an attacker, riding on the left gave more freedom of movement.
The convention was so prevalent that eventually it became law as more and more roads were built and when cars came along, the same law applied. Cars therefore retained a right hand driving position for improved visibility when driving on the left.
