I just posted a tweet from Google Chrome and the Twitter app installed itself.
The app. Installed itself.
@sock are you using a vpn?
@sock 😳
@sock Pardon my crude language but that’s fucked up! Like seriously.
@sock madness reigns
@sock Have you wiped your socks...washed yourself since coming back? Use bleach.
@VirginMaryCandle I always use protection.
@sock Hmm... I wonder if you have malware in your Chrome. If I were you I'd uninstall that app and then uninstall chrome completely. Restart and then reinstall Chrome. Your account should be backed up so you shouldn't lose anything. If the Twitter app returns then I'd be suspicious of your add-ons. One of them isn't what it seems...
@danielbsmith Not likely. I don't use plugins. I am very careful about such things.
@sock Then a reinstall and restart will hopefully suffice. Thank you for sharing so I can be in the lookout. The warning is appreciated.
@sock WTF?
@DBC My thoughts exactly.
I uninstalled it immediately.
@sock Good.
@sock dododododododo DODO
@sock 😳
@sock I never once have used FB, Twitter, or Reddit from on my phone.
The apps for Twitter/FB were installed, and I deleted it without a second thought.
I have CS, and it works for what I need and isn't intrusive unlike those.
@sock Oh wow. Report it to Google.
@QueenPhillippa @sock newsflash, the longtermers started there
@Spackler1 @sock Where is "there?"
@QueenPhillippa @sock google founders are in that cult
@Spackler1 @sock If it's Twitter, I just had my 14th anniversary.
@sock 👀 !!!
I do not and have not ever used the Twitter app. It was a security and privacy nightmare before Elon Musk got involved.
This is an alarming new development.
