Call me crazy, but I rather firmly believe that SCOTUS justices should be unimpeachably ethical. #RandomThoughts
@kel and have strict term limits
@pennyphilosophy I'm not on the term limits bandwagon, but if it's going to be a lifetime appointment, then they cannot even remotely partake in the remotest perception of f*ckery.
@kel @pennyphilosophy
I don't think it's possible to fully determine who is unimpeachably ethical. You're always rolling the dice a bit when appointing someone to such an impactful position, and lots of people put on a great dog and pony show in interviews / hearings. We might not know what nefarious dealings someone participated in until many years later.
This is *exactly* why we need term limits on every single elected and appointed government position.
@kel @voltronic overhaul necessary imo. justice would be good, but once ensconced, good luck with that. making judicial candidates run for office would help, tho most who are already run unopposed.
term limits limits their ability to build graft systems and judicial damage.
congress too.
our 'leaders' have to be wealthy or funded by wealth. that right there is where elitist governing denies opportunity to more citizens to have a go.
@kel @voltronic house broken, friend
and on fire
@pennyphilosophy Nope.
That's the kind of rhetoric that guarantees that nothing ever changes. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@kel @voltronic uh huh
@pennyphilosophy I don't disagree, I just think that it's a bit like replacing a house full of furniture because a chair is broken.
Fix the damned chair. 😉@voltronic
