@EnochianEntropy it was certainly necessary and God is all forgiving...but it might have taken a bit for Judas to redeem himself π€£π
@EnochianEntropy @killingfloorman
It was God's will that Jesus be crucified. Why blame Judas for what's destined to happen?
@EnochianEntropy @killingfloorman
Also, when it was all over, he "volunteered" to hang himself.
@mcfate @killingfloorman Guilt, even for a thing that must be done, is crippling. Either way, he betrayed him, even if it was at his command.
@mcfate Because Judas had free will. He *chose* to do it. We are discussing why he did it, which is an academic exercise since we can't possibly know his motivation
@killingfloorman @EnochianEntropy
Did Jesus have "free will"? He basically said, "I don't wanna do this, but if You're gonna MAKE me, okay."
@mcfate @killingfloorman Sounds like he did. Again, doing what must be done.
@mcfate he ABSOLUTELY had free will. As a man he of course didn't want to suffer. As God, he knew that it was necessary, and so chose to do it (thankfully)
@killingfloorman @mcfate Spock had to go into the warp core - he could have chose not to, but he did anyway.
@EnochianEntropy same witk Kelvin Kirk
@EnochianEntropy @killingfloorman
Yep. He took the hardest role.
@killingfloorman They weren't necessarily friends.
They were people who wanted to learn from him. He was the mentor more than the friend.
@okika_hilo Jesus is friends to us all
@killingfloorman I think you know what I meant.
They weren't 'buddies'.
@okika_hilo I see it differently. They hung out together, cared for each other and laughed and drank together
@killingfloorman One in twelve isn't a bad attrition rate.
@stueytheround you sound like MAGA and the Tories during COVID-19 π³
You monster π€ͺπ€£
@killingfloorman π€£
@killingfloorman There were still 12, if you count Paul.
@AskTheDevil Matthias replaced Judas. Remember? Paul made 13 *twilight zone theme intensifies* @killingfloorman
@stueytheround @killingfloorman On the timeframe I operate on, I hear so many versions of these stories that whoever is alive at the moment thinks is the right one.
: )
I don't even bother remembering names of mountains, because the mountains and I always outlast the names anyway.
Does that make me creepy?
@AskTheDevil Nahhhh.
I've seen creepy. You aren't that.
@AskTheDevil not as creepy as those who insist they know exactly what the stories mean and that only their interpretation is valid π
@killingfloorman @stueytheround I agree!
@killingfloorman I tend to go with the βGood Guy Judasβ theory.
Someone had to give him up to the Romans, so Judas was chosen/volunteered.
βOne of you will/must betray meβ could be a command, not a prophesy.
