I wish that more people understood and valued this 🙏😎

@killingfloorman Not quite. For instance, with autism , the person has more neurons & synapses in their brain than “normal” people. It’s as if the brain is evolving and trying to create new connections. 😉

@killingfloorman More. I’ve been in the ASD field since before it was a dx here in the states. 1977 was my 1st yr of working w/ severely autistic children & realized it was my calling. I never achieved the education I wanted but have kept up w/ research. Oh, and I’ve an adult autistic dtr of my own. We were told she’d never speak, really finish H. S., & never attend college. She achieved it all. 😉Language is still very much a challenge, but she does just fine. My spouse is on the spectrum, too.

@F3NW4YP4RK thanks for the information. My son is on the spectrum so I am always interested in information that might help

@killingfloorman Try to think of it not as “curing,” but teaching to communicate. For every single sentient being, communication is paramount. Quite often, people with autism have a language processing disorder. A is going on 36 yo and still struggles with communication. If we can’t communicate with autistic ppl, we can’t help them understand our world. Read “Thinking in Pictures” by Temple Grandin. Both husband & dtr are autistic. Their world is fascinating but I’m odd Mom out. 😂
