I wish that more people understood and valued this šŸ™šŸ˜Ž

@killingfloorman Not quite. For instance, with autism , the person has more neurons & synapses in their brain than ā€œnormalā€ people. Itā€™s as if the brain is evolving and trying to create new connections. šŸ˜‰

@killingfloorman More. Iā€™ve been in the ASD field since before it was a dx here in the states. 1977 was my 1st yr of working w/ severely autistic children & realized it was my calling. I never achieved the education I wanted but have kept up w/ research. Oh, and Iā€™ve an adult autistic dtr of my own. We were told sheā€™d never speak, really finish H. S., & never attend college. She achieved it all. šŸ˜‰Language is still very much a challenge, but she does just fine. My spouse is on the spectrum, too.

@F3NW4YP4RK thanks for the information. My son is on the spectrum so I am always interested in information that might help

@killingfloorman Try to think of it not as ā€œcuring,ā€ but teaching to communicate. For every single sentient being, communication is paramount. Quite often, people with autism have a language processing disorder. A is going on 36 yo and still struggles with communication. If we canā€™t communicate with autistic ppl, we canā€™t help them understand our world. Read ā€œThinking in Picturesā€ by Temple Grandin. Both husband & dtr are autistic. Their world is fascinating but Iā€™m odd Mom out. šŸ˜‚
