"The rush to endorse Harris and flood of money was so speedy that it looked easy. But there was no guarantee it would go so well. She engineered a big win after an unprecedented moment of uncertainty for the party. That’s the work of a talented politician."

@Fellixe

engineered?

no doubt she's talented and deserving, and will win the presidency,

but this situation is the result of an intersubjective decision, a sacrifice by Biden, an honourable choice.

much in the spirit of similar sacrifices that happened in France recently.

that language, however, makes her seem calculating and unscrupulous.

but that's how they think, isn't it?

@holon42 I think you're conflating the circumstances with how she navigated those circumstances. I'm sure some folks were ready to jump on board, but she had to do a ton of work to bring some folks along in a very short period of time.

@Fellixe

oh, no doubt she's been working. and talking to Biden. this was no snap decision. it's been a process.

i think they worked out the best timing, and his getting Covid now was a good occasion to do it.

she's a phenomenon, yes, but she didn't do it single-handedly or with a hidden agenda, imho anyway.

@holon42 Right. That's how politics is done right, with people, with not only effort applied at the time but the benefit of relationships built before the moment. On one hand she doesn't deserve all the credit, but on the other would it have gotten done so well if it wasn't her at the forefront?

@Fellixe

oh, you're right. i mean she had to be prepared, it's part of her role, since death is always imminent if unpredictable.

and she is prepared, obviously πŸ‘ŒπŸ½πŸ’―πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»πŸ˜Ž
