I needed some info about some tech software thing. Went to a site and there were more ads than there was information. I guess there were too many because at one point my browser was unable to load the page.

Look, I understand the need (greed) to monetize things, but this is getting stupid.

I’m really getting to the point of proxy blocking. Anyone have a good suggestion for Safari?

@feloneouscat I am so sick of tech articles being hot garbage. The worst part for me is anything involving a visual medium gets a video instead of an article. I can read an article quickly. I can't easily move around and use resources in a 20 minute technical video.

It's seriously painful trying to find good articles on Unreal Engine stuff.

@FreedomATX

No kidding.

At times I want to scrape all Unreal articles and remove the ads.

@feloneouscat Privoxy? This would be system wide. It can be set and forget or extensively configured to taste. I've used it but wanted something sitewide so I use AdGuard in DNS mode -- it blackholes ad traffic.

Neither of these are Safari-specific but they'll work fine w/MacOS setups.

Back a long time ago I used Privoxy. I guess it’s time to experiment again.

@feloneouscat The Brave browser works on Mac so far as I can tell (I don't have a mac). It works on iPhone and iPad as well (I do have those). It is a very good browser, automatically ad blocks everything and is very privacy oriented.
