Well, it’s official. I’m scheduled to get a full knee replacement in February. I’m still processing the reality of it, but I am very impressed with my orthopedic surgeon. I opted NOT to go with the big “corporate” practice that specialized in joint replacement. Some people love them, but many others have horror stories. One woman complained that her leg was shorter after a hip replacement, and their answer was, “Don’t worry about it… we’ll fix that when we do your other hip.” 🤔
@tippitiwichet I’ve had several bone density tests plus x-rays and an MRI. This knee has been well studied but thank you for the good advice.
@cassandra17lina my mother had one done.get ready for lots of profanity and gnarly bruising. :)
@cassandra17lina
My spouse is having theirs done in four weeks. They are nervous despite ... or because of ... being a nurse. But their best friend just had one done three months ago and is doing great so we will use the same doctor.
Note: a robot performed the actual surgery. Very precise, smaller incision.
@Ulf Yes, this will involve a robotic component. Good luck to your spouse.
@cassandra17lina @Ulf You're going to be so happy next year when you can do stairs without a thought!!! It's so worth it.
@cassandra17lina
Well wishes. Hope everything goes to plan.
@cassandra17lina Get a bone density test first! My friend got her knee worked on and they didn't do that, big problems. They should have done it automatically due to her age, and did not.
