@McMarkerson Bolduc, the NH R Senate nominee, went all in on the "kitty litter in classrooms for kids who identify as furries" lunacy in the final weeks of the campaign.
And he lost by almost 10 points in a state Rs expected to win. Almost as if these crazed lies don't have appeal beyond the cult.
@LindaWisner @McMarkerson Well, they did clobber Bolduc even as the media hyped the idea that he was surging to a toss up.
@RationalLeft @LindaWisner Way too much creating the story rather than just reporting the news, juicing up some of these candidates and causes on the lunatic fringe.
@McMarkerson They do indeed do that a lot.
@RationalLeft @McMarkerson: True. Many in what I'll call The Middle (of the Left or the Right) really don't want to elect silly cartoon characters. People will accept a certain amount of wackiness or whatever, but everyone has a tolerance limit.
@thedisasterautist @McMarkerson Rs blew the midterms partly because a lot of conservative Indies and about 15% of registered Rs wouldn't vote for the Big Lie nominees.
@RationalLeft @McMarkerson: Yep.
Unpredictability become predictable eventually, not to mention exhausting.
@thedisasterautist @McMarkerson And the "damned right I want to end democracy and install only MAGA Rs!" mania was a bridge too far even for some Rs.
@RationalLeft @McMarkerson: Many, including my mother and more than a few of her friends, learned the hard way that voting for one group out of fear of another group will get you played like a fiddle by people you'd never buy a car or tv from or lend money.
@thedisasterautist @McMarkerson Enough people do tend to learn in the end, so the con artists' grip doesn't hold forever.
@RationalLeft @McMarkerson
NH really needs to do better. I'm totally disgusted.
