@RationalLeft @McMarkerson: True. Many in what I'll call The Middle (of the Left or the Right) really don't want to elect silly cartoon characters. People will accept a certain amount of wackiness or whatever, but everyone has a tolerance limit.

@RationalLeft @McMarkerson: Many, including my mother and more than a few of her friends, learned the hard way that voting for one group out of fear of another group will get you played like a fiddle by people you'd never buy a car or tv from or lend money.
