For me, it was Bridge to Terebithia. That book fractured my very soul.

I will never recover from the plot nor from the humiliation of the oral presentation.

@MotherDucker Pretty sure it was Ferdinand the Bull. I was pretty young. But also my parents had taken me to real bull fights before I was 5 so.... Yeah.

@ToolPackinMama I never got into the equine books, because at that age I was determined to not do everything my sister did. I remember her agony over Black Beauty. She also had a black Percheron and did show jumping and dressage. So it hit her doubly hard.
