Does anybody here know how to cook a roast?
I don't think I ever have. My grocery had a twofer deal, that essentially resulted in the meat costing $3.75/pound. So I have two roasts sitting in my fridge. I want to cook them both, then freeze most of it, packaged for future use.
BUT...I don't know how to cook it. I just know that my mother cooked it until it was dry as leather. Which is probably why I never bought and cooked it myself.
Your suggestions are greatly appreciated!
The ditch oven is our favorite way for baking bread too now.
Gets use as a stew and soup pot too.

@stueytheround @Kurtroedeger @Knitpurrl @BlueStateBabe (One can obviously cook a roast very successfully in a slow cooker.)
@Notokay @stueytheround @Knitpurrl @BlueStateBabe I'll have to give that a try

Which microwave trick?
Off with a cup of boiling water?
Or run it at 10% for intervals? With the cup of warm water in there?
Nothing but trouble here getting good rise/crumb with the kitchen a bit cold due to vent...

Yep, mug water. Boil 4-5 minutes so inside of microwave is warm. Then slide mug to side when you put bowl of dough in, shut it and don't touch for an hour or so.
@Kurtroedeger I basically do this in my slow cooker, except the improved dough goes straight in and it rises as it cooks for 1 hr 15 minutes on high.
