Does anybody here know how to cook a roast?
I don't think I ever have. My grocery had a twofer deal, that essentially resulted in the meat costing $3.75/pound. So I have two roasts sitting in my fridge. I want to cook them both, then freeze most of it, packaged for future use.
BUT...I don't know how to cook it. I just know that my mother cooked it until it was dry as leather. Which is probably why I never bought and cooked it myself.
Your suggestions are greatly appreciated!
@BlueStateBabe My Mom was an expert roast cooker, also my Hubby and myself ๐ฅฐ
Use a large pot (Dutch oven) you can cover and put in the oven.
Cut a whole large onion into about 5 slices and put on the bottom of the pot.
Place roast on top.
Salt and pepper to desire.
(Less salt if adding soy sauce)
Fill pot with beef stock/broth to 1/4 inch of top of roast, but not covering.
Add 1 bay leaf.
Hereโs a choice: add a dash of either red wine or Worcestershire Sauce or soy sauce.

Yep, mug water. Boil 4-5 minutes so inside of microwave is warm. Then slide mug to side when you put bowl of dough in, shut it and don't touch for an hour or so.
