@Kurtroedeger I LOVE black licorice. Most people who think they hate it have never tried it. Fact licorice has anti inflammatory properties and helps with allergies and skin itching as well as soothing sore throat.

@Kurtroedeger

In high school, my boyfriend and I went to Baskin Robbins, where he got a black licorice ice cream cone. His mouth and tongue remained black afterwards. Ick!

@Kurtroedeger @BlueStateBabe Licorice is not noms. Licorice is bait and switch. Smells like candy. Tastes like poo. 🤮

@BlueStateBabe @Notokay
I like licorice, but cilantro tastes like soap. And not a fan of bell peppers.

@Kurtroedeger same for me. Like licorice, cilantro tastes like soap, and hate green bell peppers.

23&Me can predict, with a high degree of accuracy, whether or not cilantro tastes like soap to you. The cilantro gene has been found!

@BlueStateBabe @Kurtroedeger @SimplyZippy I love cilantro. And peppers, of all kinds. Y'all can have all the anise, fennel, and licorice.

This is the bain of my existence!
I want to enjoy Chipotle but they put cilantro in everything 🤣

@Knitpurrl @BlueStateBabe @Kurtroedeger @SimplyZippy @Notokay I'm so very thankful cilantro tastes yummy to me. I can't imagine an actual edible plant tasting like soap. That must have been an unpleasant surprise the first time, and I can imagine someone eating a dish they thought had parsley in it and getting an unpleasant soapie cilantro surprise.

My first experience was at a fancy restaurant in Boston, Blue Ginger with chef Ming Tasi. It was embarrassing because I thought the dishes or utensils hadn’t been rinsed. The line chef came out and suggested it was the cilantro and offered another choice without the herb… I guess it happened often enough to be recognized. The new dish was delicious and I now knew I had an allergy to cilantro.

@BlueStateBabe @Knitpurrl @Ellomumsy @Kurtroedeger @SimplyZippy It's interesting to me that cilantro shows up in the cooking of many cultures across the globe, especially given the number of people who have a genetic reaction to it.

@Kurtroedeger I hear in Denmark they put salt on their black licorice! 😱

@janallmac
The same in sweden and other nordic countries. I've had it and its good. Not something you gorge on though, as it is very salty.

They even make it into icecream:

I have a Dutch friend IRL who tells me about these mystical things....😳

I mean. I do like licorice! But that's hardcore.

@Kurtroedeger @janallmac
Good and Plenty for the win...
No one touches it when I buy it...
😊😉🙃
