The problem is the same one as always: Dems whine, can't unite around any issue, don't have the guts for ugliness. Reps are a masterclass in ruthlessness and will to power. So we hold our noses and vote like hell for unfocused whiners. Splendid.

We keep hoping that we can raise them to our level of discourse, only to realize that's impossible and the only way to keep them from destroying the country is to sink to their level of ignorance and violence.
It's a lose-lose situation.

Agreed. And it is that because we define ourselves through them. Meanwhile, they barrel towards their goals as if we don't exist. *That* is worth taking note of
