π΅π½I've been having fun with telemarketers lately
Literally just answered as if an employee at our local news station.
"W*** News line, may I help you?"
For some reason they hung upπ€£
The other day I answered with my favorite: "9-1-1 Emergency, how may I direct your call?"
Same result, only faster π π΅π½π
@Gramdma2011 Tbh, I've found that even merely answering ensures I'll get dozens more calls π

My trick is simple, and effective: You are under no obligation to say "Hello", or make any sound when answering the phone.
If the telemarketer gets dead air, they mark the number as inactive; and they never call again.
i've tried that. it doesn't deter all of them.
@danalan @Avidspark @holon42 I do that a lot as well! I mute background & listen to them & wait until they hang up. I check voicemail in case legit call. Then I block #. I always block this type of call. I never say "Yes" to any question to those I do answer thinking legit, even to my name. I just question them "Why?" A legit company states company name; telemarketers start yakking & I "No" & hang up. Most often hang up on them
yup, do not engage. i usually don't answer unknown numbers. if they're legit, they'll leave a message.
@Gramdma2011
that's something i haven't tried. usually i just ignore.
