In other news, a friend loaned me his "suzyqable" debugging cable so I could disable the firmware write protect on my 2017 Pixelbook.

Now to replace the firmware and install Linux in place of !

(I've largely replaced the Pixelbook with a Framework Chromebook (which is fantastic!) so this will let me continue to get use out of the Pixelbook hardware for those times when I really need a bare-metal Linux environment.)

My Pixelbook now runs instead of instead of . (So far, it seems to handle the Chromebook hardware a little better.)

This should be fun - I've not used an RPM-based Linux system for personal use since before Fedora was a thing. Wish me luck! 🤞

Hmm, I am writing this on an older Asus 302c that will lose it's ChromeOs updates in June. I last used RPMs with RedHat...4.x? I imagine I can swap in a Linux distro on this machine sometime in the summer. Project for when I have time. :^)
