Apparently today, there was yet another kerfuffle where some people got so upset, they've apparently decided to leave the site, from what I'm told.

There's another solution.

I've got an account with only a couple blocks on it because I hardly use it, plus this one. I've only blocked a handful of people on this one.

Almost all the vitriol is coming from a handful of jerks. Just block those jerks. They are loud, and look numerous, but it's just because they do nothing but argue.

Me, adding #politics to my filters.

@amarand I removed the firehose column, which I only had to do once before to keep myself sane.

I also found I had to mute a couple people I like and respect, not because their posts were intended to incite rage, but because needed a break.

Being able to curate your experience in real time here is why I still can participate. I've disappeared from my few other "hangouts" entirely.

@damselfly59 I agree with D, I hope all works out smoothly @misslovelymess.

I want all the updates, we can't escape tough times and I prefer to know what folks are facing than operating in cloud cuckoo land, and assuming all is well when in fact they were drowning not waving.

I'm sorry that my country is it's own sub-genre of #politics.

So, to be uncharacteristically more considerate of nations that aren't the comically named United States,

I propose a specific hashtag to encapsulate and quarantine our hot mess of political debate, so others can better #UseTheTools.

#USPolitics seems an obvious warning, but other suggestions are welcome.

In my ongoing effort to make my feed a positive experience, my filter list is starting to read like a novel. I'm not filtering all negativity, just nonproductive negative crap.

We all want Coso to start breaking even, so J doesn't have to pay it all out of his own pocket. That means there need to be a lot more users. That will mean you would have a much different experience unless you #UseTheTools to curate your own experience.

You aren't being a jerk if you mute people whose interests don't match your own. The future of Coso will require people to create communities within the community, where we can continue to experience the small-group feeling we appreciate here.
