@Maude Texas will turn eventually.
@CLManussier Advocacy?
@NorthernInvader but then account for methane emissions! Not C as good as it sounds!
@peeppeepcircus 3C is 5.4F… not 10. ☺️
@kbsez He wants to be America's last president... one way or another!

At +5C the reams of human suffering will be untold, as no bards will live to sing the song.
@peeppeepcircus Most climate scientists actually believe that we will blast past +2.5C this century. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/article/2024/may/08/world-scientists-climate-failure-survey-global-temperature #ClimateChange
@th3j35t3r What a potty mouth!
@peeppeepcircus @gemswinc I am going to try to be an optimist. I have always believed that we had the ability to reverse the damage of 80 years of combustion and petro-alchemy, but that we lacked the motivational force to execute before it was too late to rectify. Since our motivator was wealth, I believed that there was no hope until the money figured out that there was more wealth available by fighting back against climate change. If the money is on board, we have a chance.
@Abyss1992 I think I see Sarah Huckaby Sanders in the crowd!
@realJanet What I find interesting about this is that the folks who bought into the IPO were all hardcore Trump supporters. And those guys are not day traders. They are loyalty-based long! They have lost a fortune. This means that they 1) can't give Trump any more of their money (they are broke), and 2) may actually resent TFG enough to not vote in November. #politics
@Pat_Walrond @IslandNewsService Can you imagine what it will be like in, say 5 years, when 100 fold more folks want to do the same thing? No way! It's not going to happen. We need to increase the HVAC and electrician workforce by roughly 50x. That will take 20 years minimum, even if it were a priority, which it currently isn't.
@Pat_Walrond @IslandNewsService I have to say, both perspectives are wrong-headed: In my experience, we can't decarbonize any faster. The technology and solutions are most certainly there, but the service and implementation sector needed to enact the huge changes, AT SCALE, required is simply not prepared for that work. I wanted to electrify my life, and it took two years to find contractors that would even book the work. And I am way ahead of the curve! #ClimateChange
@smittycanada1 @ps9714 We will find out. Stock transactions have to be reported within 45 days.
@NorthWestBird The transition from oil and gas will take decades. Doing it badly would lead to more problems than doing it in an organized way.
@Maude There must be babies involved...
@YouInMyEye Lifeforms don't evolve. Species do, and extinction is the endpoint. The stop evolving when they go extinct. You might be tempted to say that they stop evolving when they optimally fit their environment, but my response would be that environments inevitably change.
@Alfred Can you estimate how many instances of the HAL9001 architecture are currently running?
