I think this is the best drawing of Azathoth I've done. Probably one of my best Lovecraft Mythos drawings.

I also have no idea how anyone would know if it wasn't. I mean, it's not like we can agree on cheekbones, facial hair, etc with this.

@Oma_Trisha I often struggle between wishing they could understand and knowing there's only one way they could...which I wouldn't wish on them. It is absolutely not your fault. A therapist told me, "You aren't weak. You still love. Weak people can't take the risk of loving." I hold onto that idea pretty tight some days.

I've been spending a lot of time lately making really weird art. That's actually a good thing. It's one of my self-care tactics. I'm going to make it through this cycle of depression.

@Oma_Trisha I feel this. When people tell me they think I'd be into something I already know I can't read or watch, just saying, "I can't... it's a trauma issue," is a whole basket of things.

For unknown reasons, I am awake at this time...the time in which I should be sleeping.

If I was a Care Bear, I'd be Grumpy Bear right now. An enchanting blend of "So cute!" and "Give the bear some space, sweetie!"

@p3R1n01D I absolutely love how music is shared here! Sometimes it reminds me of friends sharing favorite songs and recommending radio stations and DJs when I was in high school.

@XaoslordErie My approach to drawing is a lot like my approach to music. I learn enough of how other people do it that it won't be a complete mess when I do it my own way.

@Anarchaeologist My dad had a ficus and that's what it looked like. I don't know if other plants in that family look alike, but I'd say it's a ficus.

So, I'm drawing a picture of Azathoth...
I say to my husband, "You were supposed to keep me controlled and practical." (He snorts!) "Does illustrating Lovecraftian cosmic horror look controlled and practical?"

He looks at the page and nods. "It takes patience and skill to draw those lines."

He encourages my weirdness every chance he gets. 😍

My sister-in-law told me about the Star Tracker app last night. Now I keep sending screenshots of interested constellations. She knew what she was doing when she gave an #autistic person a new toy.

@dreandmax @Tarnagh Oh, yeah... that's a weird one. I was obsessed with Spock when I was in high school and watched that one because of the whole "Vulcan nerve pinch" thing.

We can't see the green comet, but we did see Mars! And I got to stand outside with my husband and his sister and make jokes about Uranus being a big gas giant. And I saw the Great Bear! 💜 And I learned there's a dragon in the sky!

@Rise4rmdarkness I want to say something uplifting, but I'm not Black. I don't carry that. I'm likely to say something cheap and empty. It even puts a wall between myself and Black family members at times. So all I know to do is sit with that and look at why our society made sure I won't know how to lift a Black person up.
