@Iveyjanette1 I dismiss most polls, including ones whose results I like. How many people do you know who answer phone calls from unknown numbers? How is their judgment in general?

I do somewhat trust exit polls where they ask people who have literally just voted. Even there they miss the early voters whose characteristics increasingly diverge from election day voters.

I'd suggest also uploading to FTdna (free) which has great DNA analysis tools. Its user base of trees is rather small though, for finding matches with distant cousins.

Ancestry dot com doesn't allow DNA upload but has by far the largest user base. A free account there could help you check paper records of connections found on the other sites. Their DNA tools are very poor.
