Gin drunk. (The drunk of sophisticated people.)

AMA.

@voltronic

I'm taking Cosmic Jr to Savannah and we are doing the cocktail class at the Prohibition museum. I've done it before, but am thinking about switching up my base liquor (you choose one to make all your drinks).

What would you choose if you couldn't choose gin?

@Cosmichomicide
Well I'm mostly a whiskey (bourbon, rye) guy if we're talking spirits. But I never mix any of my whiskeys; my stuff is neat only.

@voltronic

what kind of gin?

I'm not a fan, but folks always swear "no, but you'll *like* this one!"

never do...

@opie
Bluecoat, made in Philly. My current favorite for cocktails.

I (thought) I hated gin until a couple months ago.

@opie
When I was at the liquor store a couple weeks ago to buy more Bluecoat, I asked if there were any Jen's recommended for drinking straight up. The guy let me taste this and I immediately bought a bottle it's spectacular.

@voltronic Oh I've tried that one. Delish. I can see why it was recommended for drinking straight. @opie

@stueytheround
I actually haven't had any of that tonight, but will soon remedy that error.

@opie

@voltronic

I used to work on proxy appliances by Bluecoat...prob a diff company tho...they were acquired by Symantec...then Broadcom...honestly, maybe they are just making gin now... 🤔

😁

@opie
That makes me think there's a RedHat vodka out there.

@voltronic what kind of gin? straight or in a cocktail? chilled, on the rocks?

@Loffreni
2oz Bluecoat, over ice in a pint glass, Fever Tree tonic, rosemary sprig. Currently on my second of those.

Or I will do the same thing with fever tree ginger beer, which I think I like even better.

@voltronic oh nice!, one of my favorites is nolets and fever tree mediterranean on the rocks, with a rosemary sprig and few drops of fresh squeezed lemon.

I have gotten myself confused a couple of times and accidentally added the gin to the fever tree ginger beer when making a moscow mule, its good too!

@voltronic I've tried many times getting gin drunk. It's never really worked! Weird, because it's the only spirit it happens with. I wonder if there's some scientific explanation.
I love simple gin and tonic over ice with a slice of lemon.
How're you enjoying yours today?

@stueytheround
Interesting. I'm sometimes like that with tequila.

Back out to root of thread; I answered the same question.
