Like millions of other people, I am horrified by the innocent civilian casualties of the war in Gaza.
I'm also furious that US media continues to report casualty figures issued by a terrorist organization as though they are fact, and that they continually fail to point out said terrorist organization is the direct or indirect cause of the vast majority of these innocent civilian casualties. And they could end it anytime they wanted.
@janallmac
Even NPR, which I have always trusted more than nearly any other outlet, is doing this everyday.
@voltronic
I feel like we really are just being lied to by Hamas --- and sort of also by Iran and Russia, indirectly -- and journalists aren't doing enough to tell the truth. And of COURSE no one wants all this death and destruction, who would? But to have people constantly manipulated like this is awful.
@janallmac
I think modern journalism just needs to put numbers to everything. And war casualties are pretty hard to determine while a war is underway.
Compound that with the fact that Hamas' MO is to embed themselves within the civilian population and use the innocents as human shields.
Yep
@voltronic I think the people dropping the bombs directly on civilians should share just a teensy bit of the blame.
I also think that the only really suspicious thing about the numbers Hamas is making up about casualties is that apparently it can be at 30k people for months even while thousands more people are killed.
You can't bomb and shoot and terrorize and destroy a place like that and thousands of people are not dying. And now there's lack of water, food, sanitation, medicine. 30k my ass.
@voltronic
Me too. I hate that. Decent people are being fooled. 😟
