My kid's name is Alex. I will not discuss this further even though I know what's going on here."
My kid's teacher- "One of the other teachers just told me that if a student asks to be addressed by another name I need to contact the state so they can contact the parents."

My heart goes out to you, your kiddo, and all the teachers where you are.
My district is really making an effort to make LGBTQ+ students feel they can be themselves. But a (previously) well-respected district bordering ours is now openly hostile to non-cis students. Where I am, it's not the state government, but it's all about who gets elected to school boards.
I'm appalled by the bigots that people keep electing these hard-right nutjobs.
