At choir practice tonight, and we're singing the King's Singers arrangement of Lullabye by Billy Joel.

I've sung this before, but how did I never catch the egregious counterpoint violations in the last measure here?

Doubled 7th on chord, while moving in parallel octaves‽

I haven't taught music theory in a long time, but this would bring out the red pen for sure.

@voltronic I envisioned my second year music theory prof, decrying what would he would surely call an abomination!

That said, when I write in Dorian mode, I sometimes DO put the fifth in the bass - just enough to give it that old timey flavor. 😉

Correct. This is the video we sent to members to help them learn it. This performance uses the optional Choir II part at the end of the score, but the VOCES8 soprano soloist adds some nice decoration that isn't notated. We're just doing the standard 6 parts that KS normally does on their own.
