Use those #hashtags folks. There's a lot more #politics on here than there used to be.
Personally, I have a politics column, but some folks wish to be here without that, and filter it. Can't filter if it's not tagged.
Now I do have a possible solution - but of course it's more work for @th3j35t3r to code something. A prompt before posting that does a dropdown pick list of maybe the top 5 hashtags - so you are encouraged (but not prohibited) to tag before posting?
Love to all!🤟
I think this is one of several situations where we had a recent large influx of people coming from Twitter and bringing that free for all mentality over here in terms of posting.
Long time members for the most part are generally more understanding that this community runs on its members being somewhat self-regulating both for themselves and for the greater community. That hasn't necessarily trickled down to the new folks yet, but hopefully it will in time.
@FireMonkey
It's often repeated that "you curate your own experience" here. What many people don't understand is that it's only possible if folks include hashtags that can be filtered out for those wishing to do so.
Several people have been politely asking for those filter hashtags to be included, but there's quite a large contingent here that either hasn't seen those posts or doesn't really care.
@FireMonkey
I for one I'm going to stop asking people to add those tags because it's clear that those messages aren't getting through to everyone.
Again, you curate your own experience. So mute people you don't want to read.
@FireMonkey
So to clarify, I think the hashtag idea for filters and other functions was a good one, but in practice not everyone is going to do it. I don't think it's worth getting bent out of shape over anymore.
The only hills I will choose to die on are posting violent content without warnings, and posting terrorist manifestos.
