People are obviously going to compare the two big competing fantasy shows running right now, but one thing is clear after two episodes of each: The music in Rings of Power is VASTLY superior to House of the Dragon in every possible way.

Bear McCreary, with the main theme by Howard Shore (who did all of the Pretty Jackson LOTR and Hobbit movies).

@voltronic

Again Thanks.
I will keep an eye out for the sound track.

I'm not prepared to say he is the equal of Shore, who in LOTR wrote some of the greatest film music ever. But it's really good.

I especially love how his Sauron theme pays homage to Shore's Mordor/Orc motif heard throughout the LOTR trilogy, but in 7 instead of 5. For reference:

@voltronic

Thanks sounds good..
I mean, the score sounds interesting.

Actually streaming it sounds like shit.
But I will get a High Resolution version.

@corlin
I didn't watch on my main TV system yet, but if it's not good then I would blame Amazon's audio compression.

The music and overall sound experience watching the BluRays of LOTR vs streaming is dramatic.

@corlin
Speaking of terrible dynamic compression, YouTube somehow thought I wanted to listen to electro house after this.

@voltronic
Yea.
Compressed to all get out.
It is ok...
It just drives me to seek other sources.

Note if I play it this through cheap speakers it is bearable but with my good cans....
Ouch!

@corlin
You mean the soundtrack on YouTube, the show, or both? I'm listening with my good cans and definitely notice some compression, but it's not worse than anything else on YT.

@voltronic
sorry
just the youtube stuff.
It is my internet speed...
Working the problem.

@corlin
Hmm, that shouldn't matter as far as audio quality on YT. It's a buffered stream, and that speed is more than enough to keep up.
