I’ll try: the 7th of F is E and E sharp is actually just F.

This is a dominant 7th chord with modifications built on F#; not F. As it happens, the (minor) 7th degree in that chord is E, but that's not the error I'm referring to. It is an enharmonic spelling thing though, so you're on the right track.
