The Brave web browser is hijacking links, and inserting affiliate codes
@voltronic oh, you know David?
@voltronic ik a lot here use brave but they have history of "things" kinda why I don't use it anymore and haven't for a long time now
i miss netscape navigator. also years that were not 2020
@evistre @voltronic let's face it though ever browser has pros and cons
more lean towards the cons than pros though 🤷🏻♂️
@voltronic @evistre android I use Chrome, Firefox with a few add ons, and Firefox focus when opening UrLs from other apps
Chromebook use Chrome
windows I use Firefox and TOR
I have tried the ungoogled chromium a while back can't mind why I got rid now lol
@voltronic @evistre kinds only use Chrome on android cause of the sync to my Chromebook
using the encrypted sync option with a passphrase obvs
@evistre @voltronic there are a few suggestions in that article/blog post to use other than brave
one a lot people miss is "Firefox focus" Android browser which is "stripped down" for privacy and security and is lightening fast with most URLs you tap on via other apps
works a treat when opening UrLs via other apps
just make sure you don't have any default browser set on Android device then you'll get a "pop up" asking which browser you want any URL you tap on to open in
@voltronic Well thats no good we cant have that.
@voltronic 👍🏿
'Ok it is not a "redirect", but an autofill'
I've seen similar fookery on eBay and Amazon searches. They stuff the top with what they want you buy and the product you're looking for several products down.
Amazon call it 'sponsored' and eBag has some similar expression.
@voltronic
