The Teresa Carreño Youth Orchestra contains the best high school musicians from Venezuela's life-changing music program, El Sistema. Led here by Gustavo Dudamel, they play Shostakovich's Symphony No. 10, 2nd movement, and Arturo Márquez' Danzón No. 2.

Oh!! Thank you for sharing this! I truly enjoyed listening. It gave me great pleasure to not only hear these very talented young people but to watch their enthusiasm and love of music in their soul was inspiring. It brought back wonderful memories of my musical days and that of my girls. 💜

The history of this group and El Sistema is quite remarkable. Dudamel himself came up through the program.
@voltronic He is incredible to watch. His enthusiastic conducting definitely reaches the depth of and translates to the musician’s capabilities. I would loved to have watched this in person.
@CherNohio
Whenever I show videos of him to my students, the girls can't get past his hair!
@CherNohio
It's like an 80s Vidal Sassoon commercial, isn't it?
That first piece (Shostakovich?) is chills inducing.
(Sassoon should underwrite them.)
@TheAbbotTrithemius
I just posted the full symphony with the same orchestra. Shostakovich is 🔥. Enjoy.
@voltronic LOL. Exactly!!!
