politics TALKING WITH MOM
We rarely talk politics.
She's 89 &an OG republican. It was part of her identity she really enjoyed. My dad ran a few city campaigns and they had fun doing it.
Fast forward. She knows something is terribly wrong in politics &society,. She complains of kooks, uneducated ppl (she was a teacher)
BEFORE I started #mindfulness we had 2 heated conversations where I blurted out trump has ruined this country and society.

^^^ TODAY I talked to her about citizens united decision and how bad it has been. How it's enabled dark money come in to politics from charities in a way that's untraceable.
She was flabbergasted amd totally against it.
I told her I wanted this citizens united overturned MORE than Dobbs/roe (technically ot because of CU that we lost roe.)
None of this was confrontational. I didn't blame parties just lamented the damage this money has done

We've talked about these problems before. Im a boomer with gen z kids. I see the problem. Mom agrees too. I gave her context of predatory practices around student loans &she sees now.
This chart is an example of how/why young ppl struggle just to find an apartment.
Also from 🧵 - only 0.4% of CEOs are will to pay a living wage.

@janallmac At some point there'll be trillionaires and we'll still be having a minimum wage of $7. Its not just minimum wage, many salaried employees are grossly underpaid. It's corporate servitude.
It must end. We cannot have trillionaires in our economy. It will destroy us. Imo
