I got laid off today. No worries, we've been planning. It sucks to essentially get forced into retirement at 61 bit thankful I have a decent retirement and funds to pay bills and have plan to payoff mortgage.
And I'm still excitedly working on my business stuff.
@ucantstop_me
Sounds like you’ll be doing well! 😊
Good luck.
Now Act III can begin. Hooray 🎉
@LnzyHou that's the GOOD part 😁
@ucantstop_me Best wishes
@ucantstop_me I'm sorry. It's a difficult journey and if you were close to anyone at work you'll find out the depth of the connection very quickly.
@ucantstop_me I was shoved out the airlock at age 52 by a Southern California employer. It gave us the opportunity to relocate to Florida, where we wanted to be anyway. We had to survive the Great Recession, and it took 2 1/2 years to find a job (which paid way less), but we survived and are much happier now.
@WordsmithFL I'm glad you adjusted. I knew this was coming. Unfortunately the high pay grade was the problem. No account wanted to absorb that cost, especially when there a cheaper people lol
Also every fiber of my being has been telling mee to gtfo of corporate world.
I plan on being much happier too. 💙
@ucantstop_me My personal experience was that GTFO of the corporate world was definitely the right thing to do, especially at our age.
The company was finding any excuse to lay off or fire employees who were 50+ and part of the pension program, because they didn't want to pay pensions any more.
There was talk of an age-discrimination class action lawsuit, but we wanted to leave town.
Hoping your finances help you survive the transition.
@ucantstop_me good luck! If I ever retire I would also like to start some kind of business
@ucantstop_me bleah. But good show you're so prepared.
@ucantstop_me
Excellent attitude 🥰 I’m so glad it wasn’t a life crushing horror. Great planning!!! 🥰🤗🥰
@ucantstop_me ❤️ Here's to a future doing stuff you love.
@ucantstop_me sorry to hear that. That sucks.
