Is it possible for Ukraine to survive the oncoming Russian onslaught?

Yes, it is.

But it will require far more military moves than Ukraine has made so far, and probably far more military than Ukraine has right now.

They do not have much of an air force or air defenses. Despite recent shipments, I don't think they have enough anti-tank weapons either.

They'll have to improvise asymmetry as best they can, where/when they can, and accept that there will be casualties. A lot of casualties...

We'll see how sanctions work today.
One of Stuey's parliament called out the problem with sanctions. Too much Russian money has been taken by NATO countries politicians. At least someone in Britain is calling for reform.
Today we begin the lessons of f around and find out in corruption.
Fighting back with a full press on going green helpful, but Ukraine has a significant resources of titanium and cobalt.
Putin has played the long game well.

@damselfly59 there are gobs of lessons here, pretty sure @stueytheround @Render << this guy could write several books on these lessons.

I wonder if the guys wearing "I'd rather be Russian than a Democrat" are paying attention

@damselfly59 @ucantstop_me @stueytheround

Putin is pretty sure that he's already done all that he can to make Russia sanction proof, at least for the near future.

I don't know how accurate he is but I do know that he's sitting on a huge cash nest egg, can raid his oligarchs cash holdings at will, and the Chinese/Iranians and others aren't going to support sanctions against Russia.

@Render @ucantstop_me @stueytheround
Saw that coming with his bitcoin antics.
We've been played. Seriously hope that someone is seriously sitting down to come up with a long range plan. I don't want my grandson learning russian.
Military is the only branch with the long term vision in our country that I am aware of. But Flynn has shown money corrupts there too. Shit.

@Render what's your read? Is this going to be long and ugly or short and uglier (meaning massive offensive to take down the government) @damselfly59 @stueytheround

@ucantstop_me @damselfly59 @stueytheround

Putin wants all of Ukraine. He's made that very clear. I'm not sure if his military can deliver it (because they suck at logistics), but they are already positioned to make the attempt. We might see a rump state consisting of the remnants of western Ukraine or we might see a Ukrainian government in exile in Poland.

Either way we need to hope that Poland and Romania are ready to handle a lot of Ukrainian refugees.

@Render @damselfly59 @ucantstop_me @stueytheround

He can’t make himself coup-proof, and I think that is a big fear for him. All the intelligence leaks before the invasion make me think he’s got enemies in military or intelligence leadership. Russians would be all in to fight NATO, but they won’t be so forgiving of a leader who impoverishes them for no good reason.

@stueytheround @ucantstop_me @Render This article has been updated to stay current. Does anyone who read it back then remember what sanctions it predicted?
