On September 22, 1906, after local newspapers reported sensational allegations that several white women had been assaulted by Black men, mobs of angry white men gathered in the streets of Atlanta, Georgia, to attack and kill Black men on sight. The mobs seized Black men on streetcars, trapping them inside and shooting or beating them to death.

This is a really incredible story. A powerful model of Indigenous conservation in the Amazon is the work by the Ashaninka Tribe, who have protected and restored their territory. They are now looking to expand their model to help 12 Indigenous territories in the western Amazon covering an area of 14,500 km2, about the size of the US state of Delaware.

The Yanomami, South America's largest Indigenous group living in isolation, have returned to a normal way of life, cultivating crops and hunting game, Nilton Tubino told Reuters in an interview on Friday.

After fretting and struggling to save money for years to get out of Texas, I finally have a workable plan.
I will be moving to Tacoma, Washington next May or June.
I'd been thinking Portland, but Washington has no state income tax (which is also true of Texas, and I didn't look forward to that additional expense). And Tacoma is slightly cheaper than Portland.
My sister lives in the Seattle area, and is buying a home on the outskirts of Tacoma, too. It'll be good to be close to her.
