Ok.
After fretting and struggling to save money for years to get out of Texas, I finally have a workable plan.

I will be moving to Tacoma, Washington next May or June.

I'd been thinking Portland, but Washington has no state income tax (which is also true of Texas, and I didn't look forward to that additional expense). And Tacoma is slightly cheaper than Portland.

My sister lives in the Seattle area, and is buying a home on the outskirts of Tacoma, too. It'll be good to be close to her.

@tyghebright We will be moving from Texas to California next Summer.
My wife's family is from Fresno CA, and we want to be close to the ocean and the mountains.

Congratulations ๐ŸŽ‰.

One of my best friends moved from Louisiana to Olympia, WA a few years ago and simply loves it. Tacoma is next door and her pictures make me weep with their beauty.

@tyghebright
It's a beautiful part of the country. If you have the occasion to see Dale Chihuly's glass work, I would recommend it. Also Olympic National Park is stunning.

@tyghebright Iโ€™m so happy for you. Now all you have to do is gift Ted Cruz with unemployment before you leave. ๐Ÿ˜

@tyghebright

congrats!

just a side note

people are more likely
to make a successful
transition to living
in the pacificNW

if they move up here
by the spring equinox
as close as feasible anyway

absorbing the daylight
in our much longer days
between the spring to fall equinoxes

greatly helps getting thru
the much shorter days
between the fall to spring
equinoxes

@tyghebright

cool! if you and your sis ever head out Ocean Shores way, lmk.

@tyghebright Nice! It's great to see a goal come into focus! Good luck executing your plan! ๐ŸŽ‰
